About Hamburg Cove

Located in the heart of Lyme, Connecticut, Hamburg Cove is a New England treasure rich with history.

This pristine area is tucked safely five miles up the Connecticut River just across the Connecticut River from Essex. It is home to the Hamburg Cove Yaht Club, Cove Landing Marina and Reynold’s Garage and Marina. Hamburg Cove has turned into an infamous attraction to the adventure loving locals and tourists.

The secluded anchorage and innate beauty of Hamburg Cove has given itself recognition throughout New England as a “go-to” destination. Although one may not find a four star restaurant located on the riverbanks, the smell of home barbeque consistently sifts through the air in the summer months. If formal dining is on the menu for the night, the award winning Bee & Thistle Inn as well as the historic Old Lyme Inn are both located on Lyme Street, only a short drive from the cove.

In the winter months, Santa comes for a visit and families can experience a once in a lifetime ride. Pristine meadows and picturesque farms can be seen year-round from the restored railroad cars pulled by the coal-fired locomotives.

During the energetic summer months, the Becky Thatcher Riverboat carries you through the Connecticut River onward to view the historic Gillette Castle and the Goodspeed Opera House. Gillette Castle is a one of a kind Connecticut beauty that attracts people year round.

Hamburg Cove and the entire Connecticut River area are not only hidden treasures of Connecticut but also an area thriving with deep history. With consistently cold winters, hot summers and unpredictable days in between, Connecticut is an unexpected opportunity.
